- Please note that this is a DRAFT RFP Only. Please provide comments/questions by 4:00PM EST on 28 Feb 12. KC-10A Background The KC-10 Extender is an Air Mobility Command advanced tanker and cargo aircraft designed to provide increased mobility for U.S. Armed Forces. The primary mission is aerial refueling, but the KC-10 can dually support the war fighter as a cargo aircraft and aeromedical evacuations. The KC-10 entered service in 1981 as a modified Boeing DC-10. KC-10A Interactive Media Instruction(IMI) Background The need to take maintenance training off of the flight line results in the need for Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI) and a variety of stand-alone hardware maintenance training devices to fulfill the need -of a Maintenance Training System (MTS). IMI is a predominately interactive, electronic-delivered training which will assist the instructor throughout the familiarization courses of the maintenance systems on the aircraft. An IMI system will include instructional software which will greatly reduce the amount of time required for hands-on training in the MTS devices and real aircraft while providing a safe and realistic training of procedures, systems and situations. The purpose of this announcement is to distribute the attached DRAFT Request for Proposal (RFP) to Training Systems Acquisition (TSA) II Contractors for the KC-10A IMI and to solicit comments and questions from TSA II Contractors.
