- The purpose of the forum is to socialize information about upcoming construction projects at Camp Lemonier, in Djibouti, Africa. The United States Navy expects to award three large construction contracts in late FY12 as described below: 1. Combat Aircraft Loading Area: Paving and site improvements consists of base material, fill for CALA footprint, FOD fencing, aircraft signage and painting. Utilities include electrical distribution, aircraft lighting and grounding. A Connecting Taxiway will connect the CALA and parking apron to the Runway (East end). Approximate concrete paving area is 185,000 square meters at approximately 45 centimeters in depth. 2. P944 Emergency Troop Housing: Project provides for 110 dry Containerized Living Units (CLUs), 133 wet CLUs with shared head (bathroom) and 50 wet CLUs with single head. Each CLU is 8' wide x 40' long. The project also includes five ablution (bathroom) units and ten laundry units, 8' wide x 40' long. CLUs include interior lights, power, A/C, and interior plumbing, fixtures, hot water heaters, washers and dryers (where applicable). CLUs will be stacked on top of existing CLUs and the project includes: steel stairs and walkways, reinforcement of existing foundations, site preparation and related infrastructure (water, sewer, electrical, and communications). 3. P943 Eastern Taxiway Extension: Project will construct approximately 49,496 m2 of taxiway pavement extension (and shoulders) to the eastern side of the existing taxiway. Includes construction of asphaltic pavement taxiway, asphalt shoulders, reflective striping, grounding, airfield lighting, and airfield safety signage. The project requires additional site improvements to include grading, storm water drainage structures, site excavation and demolition. Erosion control devices will be installed and maintained throughout construction. Approximate asphalt paving area is 55,000 square meters at approximately 20 centimeters in depth for base coarse and 10 centimeters for finish course. Attendees will be limited to two (2) per company. The Industry Forum will be conducted solely in the English Language.
