- Description
- The Department of State’s Bureau of Information Resources Management (IRM) is interested in information on technologies, capabilities, and functionality descriptions from businesses that offer COTS and proprietary solutions for Video Teleconferencing (VTC). This will be used to support Department of State offices domestically and Embassies and Consulates overseas. This RFI is being used to gather information to assist in requirements formulation and to identify vendors that can meet our requirements The office of the Deputy Chief Information Officer for Operations, in conjunction with the Video Program Office (VPO), is currently evaluating various technologies and solutions to best determine the future of Video Teleconferencing (VTC ) in the Department of State. The current VPO infrastructure consists of a Cisco/Tandberg Multi-point Control Unit (MCU), also referred to as a bridge, and Cisco/Tandberg Video Communications Servers (VCS). These are managed by the Cisco Telepresence Management Suite (TMS). Individual conference rooms and desktop units (end-points) make up the user-end of the infrastructure. This infrastructure allows for point-to-point and multi-point conferencing within the Department of State's private network, as well as conferencing to outside entities (i.e. other agencies, educational, and medical institutions, etc.) using the public Internet and ISDN. However, the existing infrastructure does not address mobile and desktop functionality; these will need to be addressed either with additional Cisco/Tandberg hardware/software, or by augmenting the existing infrastructure with 3rd party hardware/software. Information Security will be paramount and will need to be addressed throughout the project. See Request for Information (Attached)
