- The Tulsa District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a meeting to hear ideas for conceptual development from individuals and groups for the development and enhancement of recreation on Keystone and Oologah lakes. The meeting is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., March 15 at the Tulsa District Office, 1645 S. 101st East Avenue, Tulsa, Oklahoma. This is in support of Section 3134 of the Water Resources Development Act of 2007, Oklahoma Lakes Demonstration Program, which provides for the implementation of an innovative 10 year program at lakes located primarily in Oklahoma. The purpose of the program is to demonstrate the benefits of enhanced recreation facilities and activities at those lakes. Conceptual ideas may be submitted for any water related recreational activity, but the following activities or facilities were identified as desirable in a survey recently conducted by the Tulsa District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers: equestrian, biking or hiking trails and related facilities; canoeing and kayaking activities and related facilities; swimming beaches; camping facilities; marinas; playgrounds. Proposals will be evaluated by an interdisciplinary team consisting of both federal and state recreation providers. Competition for a lease may be required, as well as market and feasibility studies depending on the level and type of development proposed.
