- Description
- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. 1. PLASTIC WINDOW SHADES AT CONTROL HOUSE CAB (8 TILTING WINDOWS). a. Provide shades with roller/spring tension operating hardware conforming to FAA-ANI-300-380, SPECIFICATION SECTION 12505 - ATCT TRANSPARENT PLASTIC WINDOW SHADES, dated 06/06. Shades to be 5 mil thick, dark, heavy duty, F72 SR (scratch resistant) plastic sheet, mounted on spring tension rollers with lock pulley and chord at bottom to maintain position and tension of extended shade so as to prevent sag when shade is extended. i) If the space between the shade and the window frame allows light into the Cab space such that it is detrimental to control operations, and/or if reflections from the aluminum spacer at the perimeter of the insulated glass pane causes glare problems, consider adhering a strip of plastic shade material to the interior face of the glass, about 2 inch wide and continuous at the jambs and sill of each window pane. This "fix" was implemented at the air traffic control tower at Lambert-St. Louis Airport to address similar problems. 2. PLASTIC WINDOW SHADES AT WINDOWS OTHER THAN AT CONTROL HOUSE CAB (6 WINDOWS EXCLUDING EXTERIOR WINDOWS AT STAIR ENCLOSURE). a. Provide shades with roller/chain operating hardware. Where vent windows are located above fixed windows, provide separate roller and shade for each window. Provide chain gear operation to raise and lower the shade. Shade material to be the same as that specified for Cab window shades. At the full glass doors it may be better to apply a plastic screen material to the glass face with similar light transmittance as that provided by the shades on the adjacent windows. 3. Due to the tilted odd shape windows, contractor will be required to measure windows to ensure correct measurement at their standards prior to manufacturing the shades. 4. Technical questions should be addressed to the Lockmaster, Mr. Gary Hipkins, at 618-452-7107 or via at Gary.L.Hipkins@usace.army.mil. Contracting questions should be directed to Kathy Souders at 314-331-8502 or via e-mail at Kathleen.M.Souders@usace.army.mil.
