Description
The FAA intends to solicit and award a firm-fixed price contract for the replacement of the Runway 22L Mark 1F Localizer (LOC) Antenna Array with a Mark 20A Localizer Antenna Array at O'Hare International Airport, Chicago, Illinois. The contractor shall provide all labor, supervision, materials, and equipment to perform the project in accordance with the contract clauses, drawings, and specifications. Work under this contract performed inside the Runway Safety Area, which will require the closure of Runway 4R, shall be performed between 2200 and 0600 hours. Work shall include, but is not limited to:1. Carefully remove existing Localizer antennas, associated support legs, and distribution unit. Deliver equipment to storage location as directed by ORD FAA SSC manager.2. Remove and dispose of existing power and signal cable junction box, its steel mounting frame, screw anchor foundation supporting mounting frame, steel channels for antenna mounting, concrete slab foundation and associated 12" diameter x 5' deep concrete piers (total of 448 sq ft of 6" slab and a total of 26 piers shall be removed completely), and power and control conduits between junction box and distribution unit.3. Localizer antenna foundation layout shall be staked by a Registered Land Surveyor (RLS).4. Construct reinforced concrete Localizer antenna foundations.5. Install perimeter grounding conductor around 14-element antenna array and test grounding system in the presence of the Resident Engineer per specifications. A written record of the test results shall be delivered to the Resident Engineer. 6. Install the antenna elements, associated cableway, and distribution unit on the foundations.7. Install new electric handhole. Intercept existing duct bank and extend 2-way duct bank to the new handhole. Install conduits from new handhole to new localizer distribution unit. Install power, coax, and control conductors in existing duct bank from the existing runway 22L Localizer equipment shelter and leave 5' coils at each end for connection by FAA installation personnel. 8. All power and control cables shall be tested per specifications after installation in the presence of the Resident Engineer. A written record of the test results for all of the conductors shall be delivered to the Resident Engineer.9. Construct crushed rock plot around 14-element antenna array.10. Cleanup site on daily basis. Restore areas disturbed by construction activity or vehicles by placing and compacting clean topsoil fill material per specifications to meet surrounding grade. Seed area disturbed by construction.11. Participate in Contractor's Acceptance Inspection (CAI) and quickly address any punch list items. Contract performance time is 60 calendar days, with an anticipated start date of May 14, 2012. The estimated price range for this procurement is between $100,000 and $250,000. NAICS is 237990. INTERESTED FIRMS MUST HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED SIMILAR PROJECTS BOTH IN DOLLAR AMOUNT AND SCOPE OF WORK AT AN OPERATIONAL AIRPORT. General contractors must submit their interest in subject project on company letterhead and should include the firm's name, address, telephone number, fax number, email address, and point of contact by no later than March 20, 2012, 2:00 p.m. (CDT).
