- Description
- The US Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) seeks Small Businesses that possess the expertise to load irradiated and unirradiated Nuclear Fuel (NF) and/or target material located at foreign research reactors (FRR) in various countries and that can supply US Nuclear Regulatory Commission/Department of Transportation Type B transport packages [shipping casks] and licensed for the transport of NF and/or target material in the United States. The vendor must be qualified to load the NF at the reactor site and arrange for transport to the United States in accordance with all applicable regulations, requirements and standards of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for sending and receiving governments. The vendor must supply the shipping casks, including specialized auxiliary equipment, required to safely load the casks, prepare them for transportation, and unload in an approved DOE receiving facility. The NF may consist of alum inum clad fuel assemblies, primarily material test reactor [MTR] type or, zirconium, aluminum or stainless steel clad fuel assemblies known as Training, Research, Isotope, General Atomic [TRIGA] type. The vendor may supply information for one or more Type B shipping casks to transport one or more types of NF and/or target material.
