- Solicitation Number: FA8232-11-R-0001-SM Notice Type: Sources Sought Synopsis: USAF F-16 Crash Survivable Flight Data Recorder Due to Diminishing Manufacturing Sources/Material Shortages (DMSMS) of the existing USAF F-16 Crash Survivable Flight Data Recorder, this Sources Sought Synopsis (SSS) is being conducted for market research in seeking sources capable of meeting the requirements for the F-16 Systems Integration Section for the acquisition of a one-time purchase of 40 each of the GE Aviation Crash Survivable Flight Data Recorder (CSFDR) DAS-11 system. The DAS-11 system consists of two (2) LRUs: 1) Data Acquisition Unit (DAU; Model#:/Part#: 2870A3/160333-11-01) which will replace the existing Signal Acquisition Unit (SAU) and 2) Enhanced Crash Survivable Memory Unit (ECSMU; Model#:/Part#: 3254A8 /187171-001) which will replace the Crash Survivable Memory Unit (CSMU). The DAS-11 system MUST: 1) Be compatible with the VIPER Memory Load Verifier (MLV) ground support equipment for uploading and downloading of data files, 2) Fit within the USAF F-16 existing mounts and brackets without any aircraft modification, 3) NOT require any aircraft Operational Flight Program (OFP) changes, 4) Function as close as possible to the existing CSFDR system to eliminate/minimize need for aircrew training while recording parameters it currently records today, and 5) Be qualified (include but not limited to passing F-16 System Integration Lab and Safety of Flight Test, Environmental, EMI, salt/fog, altitude/temperature, gun fire, vibration, etc.) to fly on the USAF F-16. Suppliers/Sources capable must respond and include: 1. Company Name and Cage code. 2. Who is your POC please provide email address and phone number. 4. Suggested NAICS Code. (336413 - Other Aircraft Parts and Auxiliary Equipment Manufacturing) 5. Business Size Classification for NAICS and qualifications if any as any sub-category. (i.e. 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, etc.) 6. Would you be a prime or subcontractor? 7. What is the Production Lead Time for first lot and also how many can be produced? 8. How many can you produce per month after first delivery? The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of these sources sought or to otherwise pay for the information solicited. The information provided is considered market research and may be utilized by the AF in developing its acquisition strategy, Statement of Work, and Performance Specifications. Any proprietary information that is submitted may be used as a general concept but specific information will be safeguarded as proprietary, if so marked. Interested offerors should send a response to the sources sought inquiry and the questions listed above to the Contract Negotiator. Responses should be submitted by 4:00 pm MST on 04 May 2012.
