- Description
- THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FORDEVELOPMENTAL SINGLE BOARD COMPUTER. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) intheir quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and awritten amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to answer questions in response to the combinedsynopsis/RFQ that were due April 4, 2012.Questions that were submitted are below along with the answers:Several requirements have been placed on the development SBC that are normally associatedwith higher lever boards or qualification boards and may result in unnecessary cost. Please verify that these requirements are intended for the development board.Q1: Section e.) has a requirement for the development board to withstand randomvibration, this is normally a requirement for qualification for flight boards.A1: This is a workmanship vibration level no test confirmation is needed but should bebuilt to reasonably be expected to withstand these vibration levels acceptance levelsare all that is expected for developmental SBC. (e.g. vibration levels expected duringshipping)Q2: Section g.) has a requirement for the development board to meet single eventperformance, this is normally a requirement for flight boards only.A2: We desire to have the development board implement the same fault tolerance techniquesas the flight board, we may consider modifications or limitations to the fault tolerance. The statement Development Board must meet Tier 2 or Tier 3 specifications below meansthat the Development board represents the lower cost, functional representative(equivalent) of a flight board meeting Tier 2 and Tier 3 specifications.Q3: Section f.) has a requirement for the development board to have > 75% equivalentcomponents as the flight board. This precludes the use of lower cost commercial partson the development board.A3: Our SOW states the difference in a development board is that the parts are greater orequal to 75% functional equivalent but lower grade parts. Industrial grade parts aresuggested, commercial grade are acceptable.Q4: Section f.) has a requirement for the engineering board to have equivalent partquality as the flight board, normally the engineering board can have lower gradeequivalent parts to the flight board.A4: As stated in the SOW for the Engineering board version: A higher resolution boardthan the developmental board, must be 100% part compatible including part quality, difference being in level of testing and inspection. Testing and certificationdocumentation not required. The due date for receipt of offers is not extended. Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASAAcquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on March 28, 2012.Documents related to thisprocurement are available over the Internet.
