- Description
- The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking prime contractor construction services for Design Build to provide all labor, materials, tools, equipment, and supervision to Renovate Radiology E Wing Emergency Department (ED) at the Department of Veterans Affairs, 50 Irving Street NW, Washington, DC in accordance with the drawings and specifications. This procurement is a 100% Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) set-aside. The work includes, but is not limited to, rerouting of all existing mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) in the ceiling and surrounding spaces to ensure that required ceiling height is provided for equipment to be installed, installation of required shielding to ensure proper functionality and safety while the equipment is in use, certification of shielding by VA approved physicists to ensure shielding integrity, installation of new medical gas service to ensure proper functionality and patient safety while equipment is in use, certification of medical gases to ensure safety and system integrity, configuration of equipment and space so that they share a control booth,configuration of equipment and space so that flow from the existing emergency room allows for maximum patient privacy during transport, configuration of equipment and space so that patients on stretchers are held within the space and not in hall way, configuration of equipment and space so that 2-4 patients can wait in a small space that allows for proper privacy, configuration of equipment and space so that all support equipment, generators and all other equipment necessary to support the proper functioning of the Digital, room and CT scanner are all in one equipment room separate from the space that houses the actual equipment, configuration of the CT equipment to allow for a ceiling mounted injector, configuration of the space to accommodate the portable holding & charging station and stretcher holding for the Emergency Room, installation of a unisex patient restroom that services this space for single occupancy, installation of a sound system to allow for soothing music in the space, removal of wall paper, flooring, ceiling tile and grid in the adjacent and surrounding hallways, re-construction of the adjacent and surrounding hallways with finishes to be approved by VA, restroom and all holding areas will contain pull stations for integration with the medical center rauland-borg nurse call system, small reception desk to allow for patient check-in as necessary controlled with badge readers to ensure the space remains secure and will have hand washing stations, all mechanical systems will be connected to the medical center building automation system, all fire alarm devices will be connected to the medical center fire alarm system, vendor is responsible for the installation of all wiring necessary for cable tv and computers that will be used in the space. All elements of this project will reflect the integration of planetree concepts. Estimated construction cost range is between $500,000.00 and $1,000,000.00. The firm must be a General Construction firm approved under NAICS: 236220, size standard: $33.5 million. Prospective contractors must be registered and current in the following websites: http://www.vip.vetbiz.gov, http://www.ccr.gov, and https://orca.bpn.gov to be eligible for award. Only SDVOSB Firms currently verified in the Veterans Information Pages (VIP) at www.vetbiz.gov are eligible to submit offers. SDVOSB firms that submit offers on SDVOSB set-asides that are not listed on VIP will be deemed nonresponsive. There will be one pre-bid site visit which will be held on a date and time tbd at time of issuance of the solicitation. All interested parties are encouraged to attend the site visit. All questions generated from the site visit shall be submitted in writing to the contracting officer (email address: angela.burger@va.gov). No telephone inquiries will be answered. Prospective contractors are responsible for downloading plans, specifications, and any issued amendments from www.fbo.gov. Solicitation documents will be available on or about April 27, 2012. All bids are due on or about by 1:00 p.m. local time May 25, 2012 at the VA Medical Center, Facilities Management Service/V5 Contract Satellite Office, 510 Butler Avenue, Building 308B (Conference Room), Martinsburg, WV. The procurement is subject to availability of funds.
