- Description
- Sole Source Intent Notification: ACC-APG Adelphi Division (Orlando Team) intends to negotiate a sole source contract for the following Research and Development study efforts: "Refinement of a robotic inflatable arm to include control and sensor functions. The overall objective of the AIR project is to find an effective low cost method of building robots that can be used in military applications. For inflatable joint development, a plan will be created and carried out that includes metrics that address items such as stability, range of motion, loading characteristics, degrees of freedom, compliance variability range, and material/fabrication cost. Control of inflatable robotics provides a strong possibility of improving robotic performance in field applications while reducing the manufacturing costs." This action is a follow-on to previously awarded contract number W91CRB-11-C-0050, which was awarded in accordance with Broad Agency Announcement number DARPA-BAA-10-65, Maximum Mobility and Manipulation (M3) program. This requirement is a sole source procurement action to iRobot Inc. ACC-APG Adelphi Division (Orlando Team) anticipates awarding a cost-plus-fixed-fee contract. The maximum budget for this effort is estimated at $625K. This notification is for information and subcontract planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. This is not a solicitation announcement for proposals. No contract will be awarded from this announcement. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing the information in response to this announcement and any follow-up information requests. All comments or questions in reference to this notice shall be directed to Mr. Damion Bailey, Contract Specialist, via email at damion.bailey@us.army.mil, or via telephone at 407-208-5052.
