- This is a notice of the Government's intent to extend the period of performance and increase the contract dollar value for the current Weapons Systems Technology Information Analysis Center (WSTIAC) contract. The contract is scheduled to expire 30 June 2012. The intent is to extend the present performance period for the timeframe required to execute the Defense System Technical Area Tasks acquisition (approximately 24 months). The Government intends to negotiate with the incumbent contractor, Alion Science and Technology Corporation Laboratories, on a sole-source basis. This extension will permit the continuation of performance of the current WSTIAC contract while the requirement is recompeted. This is a non-commercial, Research & Development, Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee, Requirements contract that was awarded on a competitive basis. This is neither a Request for Proposal nor a solicitation of offers. Any information received from industry by close of business 2 May 2012, will be considered by the Government solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive acquisition. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based on responses to this notice is solely within the Government's discretion.
