- Description
- The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) seeks information on commercial vendors that are capable of providing a Coherent Genesis Laser CX355-250 Laser or EQUAL which is required for the development of electron paramagnetic resonance spectroelectrochemisty. The laser is required to interface with the EPR spectrometer system in order to photoexcite materials used in solar fuels research in situ while EPR and photocurrent measurements are being made to develop an ODMR measurement using a reporter probe. The laser shall have a high power because NIST anticipates significant power losses due to the cryostat and resonator configurations in the EPR spectrometer. Finally, the high optical density of the samples requires high power illumination to generate sufficient concentrations of paramagnetic species for detection by EPR spectroscopy. After results of this market research are obtained and analyzed and specifications are developed for the laser that can meet NIST's minimum requirements, NIST may conduct a competitive procurement and subsequently award a Purchase Order. If at least two qualified small businesses are identified during this market research stage, then any competitive procurement that resulted would be conducted as a small business set-aside. NIST requires a Coherent Genesis Laser CX-355-250 Laser or EQUAL. The salient characteristics are the following: 1) Continuous wave, 355 nm wavelength, output power of at least 200 mW. 2) Single transverse mode (TEM00) with M.sq. of at most 1.2. Product of (1/e^2) beam diameter and angular divergence of less than or equal to 1.2 mm mrad. 3) Output (rms) power stability less than 1% peak to peak with output noise (rms) of less than 0.2 % in the frequency range 10 Hz to 1 MHz. 4) Linear output polarization with polarization ratio of at least 100:1. 5) Power supply with output power display and adjustable output (laser) power. 6) One-year warranty 7) Brand new (not used) 8) Shall be able to be coupled to fiber optic cables NIST is seeking responses from all responsible sources, including large, foreign, and small businesses. Small businesses are defined under the associated NAICS code for this effort, 334516, as those domestic sources having 500 employees or less. Please include your company's size classification and socioeconomic status in any response to this notice. Companies that manufacture lasers are requested to email a detailed response describing their abilities to Prateema.carvajal@nist.gov no later than the response date for this sources sought notice. The response should include achievable specifications and any other information relevant to your product or capabilities. Also, the following information is requested to be provided as part of the response to this sources sought notice: 1. Name of the company that manufactures the system components for which specifications are provided. 2. Name of company(ies) that are authorized to sell the system components, their addresses, and a point of contact for the company (name, phone number, fax number and email address). 3. Indication of number of days, after receipt of order that is typical for delivery of such systems. 4. Indication of whether each instrument for which specifications are sent to todd.hill@nist.gov are currently on one or more GSA Federal Supply Schedule contracts and, if so, the GSA FSS contract number(s). 5. Any other relevant information that is not listed above which the Government should consider in developing its minimum specifications and finalizing its market research.
