Description
The Fleet Logistics Center Norfolk, Philadelphia Office, intends to acquire, on a competitive small business set-aside basis, senior level coding analysis support services for the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery. The contractor will be responsible for tasks that will increase coding accuracy, minimize coding variation with Military Health System (MHS) policy, analyze the effect of current and future MHS coding guidelines on Navy coding practices, assist in the development of coding policy and guidance and support ICD-10 implementation efforts. THE DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THIS SYNOPSIS REFLECTS CURRENT KNOWLEDGE AS OF THIS PRINTING. THESE FACTS MAY BE UPDATED OR REVISED IN THE ACTUAL REQUEST FOR QUOTATIONS, WHEN ISSUED. The purpose of this requirement is to obtain, for the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED), Health Information Management (HIM) Department of the Healthcare Operations Directorate and the Performance, Planning and Monitoring Directorate, senior level coding analysis support services, with special emphasis on capturing workload of clinical services provided by Military Health System facilities and their healthcare providers. Specific tasks to be performed under this contract include but are not limited to include coordinating and developing responses to coding related Hotline questions; analyzing Military Health System guidelines, needs, procedures and metrics, providing recommendations for improvement; and, reviewing compliance with civilian standards. It is intended that this procurement will be processed in accordance with FAR 15 (Contracting by Negotiation) and FAR Part 12 (Commercial Items) will apply. It is anticipated that a firm fixed price service contract will result from this solicitation. It is anticipated that the basic performance period will be 01 October 2012 through 30 September 2013, with a 30 day start-up period making award by 1 September 2012. It is further anticipated that an additional two (2) twelve-month option periods will be included for a total maximum of thirty-six (36) months of service if all options are exercised. This is 100% small business set-aside. The solicitation, N00189-12-R-Z050, is anticipated to be released by 2 May 2012 and will be made available electronically upon its release to www.neco.navy.mil.
