- Description
- The United Stated Forest Service, Deschutes National Forest, Sisters Ranger District anticipates soliciting in the near future for a Dam Demolition and fish passage construction. The project is located at the outlet of Suttle Lake and the beginning of Lake Creek which is a tributary to the Metolius River. Goals and Objectives: The goal of this project is to remove the concrete dam structure, provide year round fish passage, improve spawning and rearing habitat at the outlet, and lower the current lake water surface elevation by 0.3 feet. This slight lowering of the water surface elevation will help reduce the frequency of flooding at the Suttle Lake Lodge while maintaining established riparian vegetation and wetland features. Anticipated work window is September 4, 2012 through October 30, 2012. Objectives: 1) Construct approximately 220 feet of side channel 2) Construct a 0.3 acre island 3) Construct a 220 foot riffle at 1.7% slope 4) Reduce the lake water surface elevation approximately 0.3 feet It is the intent at this time to utilize the vendors from the FERM Blanket Purchase Agreement to accomplish this work.
