- Description
- This is a pre-solicitation synopsis in accordance with FAR Part 5. The United States Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center has a requirement for Marine Painter Services. The Government anticipates awarding a requirements type contract for one (1) base year and four (4) option years. The NAICS code for this requirement is 336611 and the small business size standard is 1,000 employees. All work will be performed at the U.S. Coast Guard Yard, Curtis Bay, Baltimore, MD on vessels both in dry-dock and pier side. The requirement for the Marine Painter Services will be fulfilled using the procedures of FAR Part 12. A solicitation will tentatively be posted to FedBizOpps on or about 31 May 2012. The Contractor shall operate numerous types of paint sprayers, man-lifts, suspend scaffolding; possess the ability to work with primers, fillers, preservatives, rust preventives, stains, oils, insulation materials, lacquers, enamels, epoxy paints and other various coatings and the method of their application. The Contractor must be proficient at preparing surfaces, mixing paint and thinners, and painting with epoxy, polysiloxane, lacquer and enamel paints. The Contractor shall be skilled at spray, brush and roller applications. Marine Painting Services will include both exterior and interior areas of the vessels. The Contractor shall be required to remove coatings from various materials, such as steel and aluminum. The Contractor shall be responsible for capturing dust, grit and paint chips created during the performance of work and disposing of them properly. The contractor must be proficient with all basic tools and equipment commonly used in the trade. The Contractor must be a SSPC (Society for Protective Coatings) member and QP1 Certified. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which, if timely received and in accordance with the solicitation, shall be considered by this agency. Responses shall be concise and be specifically directed to the requirement referenced above. It is the offerors responsibility to monitor FedBizOpps for changes or amendments to this notice.
