- Description
- This is a pre-solicitation synopsis in accordance with FAR Part 5. The United States Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center has a requirement for Marine Pipefitter Services. The Government anticipates awarding a requirements type contract for one (1) base year and four (4) option years. The NAICS code for this requirement is 336611 and the small business size standard is 1,000 employees. All work will be performed at the U.S. Coast Guard Yard, Curtis Bay, Baltimore, MD on vessels both in dry-dock and pier side. The requirement for the Marine Pipefitter Services will be fulfilled using the procedures of FAR Part 12. A solicitation will tentatively be posted to FedBizOpps on or about 31 May 2012. The Contractor shall be required to repair existing pipe, remove existing pipe and/or replace existing pipe. Marine Pipefitting services will include both exterior and interior areas of the vessels. The Contractor shall have the ability to develop work from blueprints and work orders in accordance with measurements, layouts, and fixtures. The Contractor shall make preliminary determinations of materials required, then fabricate, install, modify, repair and finally test all work performed on iron, steel, brass, monel, copper, copper-nickel, stainless steel, plastic pipe and a variety of hoses. The contractor must be able to cut treads; bend pipe; assemble pipe fittings and various types of pressure tight joints; and install piping, hangers, brackets and other supporting fixtures, using various types of shop machinery and equipment commonly utilized in the trade. In addition, the contractor shall perform brazing, soldering, position and align pieces for welding (when required), and clean piping and components with acid and solvents. The contractor must be proficient with all basic tools and equipment commonly used in the trade. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which, if timely received and in accordance with the solicitation, shall be considered by this agency. Responses shall be concise and be specifically directed to the requirement referenced above. It is the offerors responsibility to monitor FedBizOpps for changes or amendments to this notice.
