Lifepak 15 V2 and V20e Difibrilators/Monitors, with ancillary equipment, since the VA Healthcare System has currently standardized the use of this manufacturer's brand and model defibrillator througout it's hospitals. It is also essential to have the LifePak 15 V2, since the master crash carts have the same defibrillators, being they are used in emergency situations, and it is essential for them to have the same standardized features in order to quickly provide safe care. The PhysioControl LifePak 15 biphasic defibrillator was chosen because it also provides healthcare providers with the opportunity to monitor, pace, and defibrillate heart rhythms, as well as, have continuous end tidal CO2 monitoring (also known as capnography). 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Advanced Cardiac Life Support highly recommends capnography monitoring for 2 specific reasons. The first reason is that it allows providers to monitor the effectiveness of chest compressions during CPR. Research demonstrates that increased quality in compressions improves patient survival rates in cardiac arrest situations. The second reason capnography is recommended is that allows verification of proper endotracheal tube placement which is critical in oxygenating patients experiencing cardiac arrest. Physio-Control, Inc. is the sole exclusive seller of this equipment, including on the Federal Supply Schedule. This Notice of Intent is NOT a request for competitive proposals. Parties may identify their interest; accompanied by supporting literature, to the Contracting Officer no later than 5/08/2012 COB. Responses should be sent to ronald.mazzei@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. Information received will be for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. The determination to conduct a competitive procurement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer. The NAICS Code for this procurement is 334510 and the small business size standard for this NAICS Code is 500 Employees.
