- The US Army Corps of Engineers, Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis (IAW FAR 13.106-1) with Fisher Scientific Company L.L.C., 4500 Turnberry Drive, Hanover Park IL 60133-5491, as the only responsible source that can currently meet the labs need by utilizing carbon fiber rotors that are interchangeable with their current Sorvall Superspeed Centrifuges. The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center Environmental Laboratory has been tasked with purchasing a floor model, high speed centrifuge and rotor heads. The basic requirements for this equipment are as follows: 1.Carbon Fiber rotors compatible with older model Sorvall Superspeed Centrifuges. 2.Included Carbon Fiber rotor heads in the listed rotor quantities and sample volumes: 50 mL (Qty 2), 250 mL (Qty 1), and 500 mL (Qty 1). 3.Included adaptors to allow for 250 mL samples to be used with a 500 mL rotor head. 4.The above rotor heads in a fixed-angle and a rounded bottom configuration. 5.Maximum speed of the system is at least 22,000 rpm/55,200 x g. 6.Refrigerated system. 7.Variety of compatible rotors available for different tube sizes and different speeds for purchase at a later time. 8.LCD control of the instrument. 9.Included extended warranty of 3 years. Fisher's Sorvall RC6+ is the only item that currently meets these needs. This acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition procedures. There are no set-aside restrictions for this requirement. The intended procurement will be classified under North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) 337127 with a Small Business Size Standard of 500 employees. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation document exists for this requirement. However, parties interested in responding to this notice shall submit technical data, including price, sufficient to determine capability in providing the same or similar product. All capability statements received by the closing date of this publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
