Description
Nature and/or Description of the Action Being Processed: This will be a new firm-fixed-price agreement for six months. One of the primary aims of Dr. Nancy Bernardy's research study, "Development of strategies to improve evidence-based care for PTSD: Decreasing benzodiazepine treatment", is to find out what the barriers and facilitators of adherence to Clinical Practice Guidelines recommendations regarding medications prescribed for PTSD are. This aim will be addressed through the development and use of an online survey of VA prescribers across the country. Statistical analysis of the survey data will be conducted. 1.There will be four primary steps to this survey research project: Consultation and design of the survey instrument. The contractor will work with the research team to identify the necessary content and structural design of the survey instrument. They will take the lead working with the NCPTSD research team to prepare a draft of the survey instrument, solicit feedback from key stakeholders, and produce a final survey that can be completed online using Survey Monkey or other approved survey technology for VA providers. The questions will be designed to specifically capture the barriers and facilitators of adherence to the 2010 PTSD Clinical Practice Guidelines as well as capturing current treatment practices, to include pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy treatments. The survey will be approximately 20 minutes in duration. Consultation on sampling methodology. The contractor will take the lead working with the NCPTSD research team to develop a sampling methodology that addresses specific aims of the research to contact prescribers in primary care and in mental health departments. Unique features of the survey are interpreting the qualitative interviews that have been conducted to inform the content of the national survey. The contractor will determine the number of providers that need to be contacted and the number of completed interviews needed to adequately generalize to our target population and provide appropriate power for statistical analyses. The contractor will be available throughout the survey recruitment and implementation phase of this study to answer questions and provide guidance to the team on best sampling design and recruitment strategies. Cleaned SPSS data set. Once data have been collected by the NCPTSD, the NCPTSD research team will deliver a copy of the de-identified data to the contractor. The contractor will be responsible for producing a cleaned SPSS data set, including any calculated variables agreed upon by the NCPTSD research team. The contractor will also develop a data codebook specific to this dataset which will be delivered to the NCPTSD research team. Statistical Analysis. The contractor will determine what statistical analysis is appropriate for this dataset, and will conduct these analyses. A summary report of the research analyses will be delivered at the end of the project to the NCPTSD research team.
