- Description
- Q1) What is the required number of DEFACs per day? Do we have to serve out of all the kitchens at the same time in the camp? Or can combine and feed out of less DFAC? A1. The 48th can utilize seven DEFACs at once. Each of the DEFACs is exactly the same. Each has a capacity to hold 128 Soldiers each. Total capacity for all seven DEFACs is 896. An accurate estimate of how many DEFACs per day will depend on the 48th's timeline. In the absence of a timeline we'll assume that the 48th wants to feed their Soldiers as quickly as possible. In that case, the minimum number of DEFACs that must be open per day are as follows: 10 August 2012 Breakfast: 4 DEFACs Dinner: 7 DEFACs 11 August 2012 Breakfast: 7 DEFACs Dinner: 7 DEFACs 12 August 2012 Breakfast: 7 DEFACs Dinner: 7 DEFACs 13 August 2012 Breakfast: 7 DEFACs Dinner: 7 DEFACs 14 August 2012 Breakfast: 6 DEFACs Dinner: 6 DEFACs 15 August 2012 Breakfast: 2 DEFACs Dinner: 2 DEFACs 21 August 2012 Breakfast: 0 DEFACs Dinner: 4 DEFACs 22 August 2012 Breakfast: 4 DEFACs Dinner: 7 DEFACs 23 August 2012 Breakfast: 7 DEFACs Dinner: 7 DEFACs 24 August 2012 Breakfast: 7 DEFACs Dinner: 7 DEFACs 25 August 2012 Breakfast: 7 DEFACs Dinner: 7 DEFACs 26 August 2012 Breakfast: 7 DEFACs Dinner: 2 DEFACs 27 August 2012 Breakfast: 2 DEFACs Dinner: 1 DEFAC Q2) Can the vendor establishes his own central location for preparing meals and then serve in the DEFACs? A2. Yes Q3) Are the 650 & 500 field rations stated in the solicitation included in the overall numbers per day? A3. Yes. The 650 number is what is planned for mermited chow. The 500 field rations are for contingency, and we will give the vendor plenty of time to react per the solicitation. Q4) Are the ovens single or double stacked? A4. 2 ovens per DEFAC single stacked. Q5) Is there a dishwasher on site for our use? A5. No dishwasher on site. Q6) Is there any refrigeration/ freezer available to us in any of the kitchens? A6. One refrigerator and freezer in each DEFAC.
