Description
The purpose of the project is to do a Logging System and Transportation Analysis (LSTA) of the project area and assess the area for the possibility of potential future commercial timber harvest. For the Neck Lake Project Area develop, prepare and present the following: Logging System Transportation Analysis (LSTA) for all of the acres of commercial sized timber volume in area regardless of Land Use Designation (LUD). An Area Plan for the transportation and harvest of the remaining timber resources in the Neck Lake Project Area tributary to the Whale Pass (LTF) and the nearby waterways. Two harvest and Logging System Transportation Analysis options (Full Stick and Forest Plan) for the project area that describes the first scheduled timber sale from the Area Plan. A Financial Analysis for each Harvest Options included in the Project Area and documents the results in a clear and logical written report with supporting documents including unit and setting specific timber values and cost centers. Present the findings in person to the District Ranger and District Staff at the Thorne Bay Ranger District Office in Thorne Bay Alaska.

Address: The project area is located on the Thorne Bay Ranger District of the Tongass National Forest, approximately 37 air miles north of the City of Thorne Bay, Alaska near the community of Whale Pass Alaska. The project area of approximately 48,503 acres encompasses portions of Townships; T.65S., R.79E., T.65S., R.78E., T.66S., R.78E.,T.66S.,R.79E.,T.66S., R.80E.,T67S.,R.79E. and T.67S., R78E. of the Copper River Meridian (CRM). The Project area is in portions of Forest Service Value Comparison Units (VCU) 5400, 5380, 5500, 5492, 5371 and 5340., Alaska, United States
