- The U.S. Geological Survey National Strong Motion Project (USGS NSMP) in Menlo Park, CA 94025 has a requirement for 200,000 feet of instrumentation cable made up to the following specifications: The cable should be equal to the Belden brand name part number 82778 or 88778. This cable is plenum rated 22 AWG stranded (7x30) TC (Tinned Copped) conductor, FEP (Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene) insulation, twisted pairs individually shielded - Aluminum Foil Polyester Tape (100% coverage), overall jacket per table below, 22 AWG stranded TC drain wire. However, the following exceptions apply: It shall be four pair 22 AWG stranded (7x30), tinned copper, each pair individually shielded instead of six pair 22 AWG. It shall have in addition to the four pairs, three individual conductors of 20 AWG stranded conductors (7x28), tinned copper nonshielded. The colors for the pairs shall be white paired with black, green paired with black, yellow paired with black, and brown paired with black. The color for the three individual 20 AWG wires shall be red, blue, and black. The outer cable jacket shall be plenum rated similar to the Belden 82778 and shall have an overall foil shield with a 20 AWG stranded drain wire. The outside jacket of the cable shall be red in color and have the following printed in addition to the standard NEC plenum cable nomenclature, (CAUTION! USGS Seismic monitoring cable, DO NOT CUT!). Other than the above exceptions the cable shall be equal to or better than the above named Belden cable. The cable shall be made up in spools of 1,000 ft. + or - 0% with no breaks or splices in the spools. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation, G12PS00586, is being issued as a RFQ. The solicitation and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in affect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 2005-58, effective 18 May 2012. This requirement is subject to the information in the attached "Instructions, Requirements, and Provisions." As well, see solicitation RFQ Standard Form 18 with list of the Contract Line Items. The Government anticipates award of a commercial, Firm-Fixed Price type contract. All firms must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database at www.ccr.gov, as well as, the Online Representations and Certifications Application (ORCA) at https://orca.bpn.gov/, or by completing the appropriate block in 52.212-3, to be considered for award. This is a total small business set aside.
