- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for The acquisition of a set of custom made lenses for the Rapid Imager-Spectrometer.The wavelength range of the instrument spans form the visible wavelengths to near infrared (K band limit at 2.4 m). The lenses required are as follows: 1 eachBiconvex lens 53mmdiaX23mmthk 1 eachBiconvex lens 62mmdiaX35mmthk 1 eachBiconcave lens 73mmdiaX50mmthk 1 eachBiconvex lens 61mmdiaX42mmthk 1 eachBiconvex lens 75mmdiaX25mmthk 1 eachBiconvex lens 79mmdiaX48mmthk 1 eachMeniscus lens 74mmdiaX24mmthk 1 eachBiconcave lens 28mmdiaX8mmthk 1 eachBiconcave lens 31mmdiaX5mmthk 1 eachMeniscus lens 67mmdiaX5.5mmthk 1 eachMeniscus lens 62mmdiaX6mmthk 1 eachMeniscus lens 68mmdiaX6mmthk 1 eachMeniscus lens 55mmdiaX10mmthk 1 eachMeniscus lens 80mmdiaX10mmthk 1 eachBiconcave lens 81mmdiaX5mmthk NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Knight Optical (UK) Ltd for the lenses. Knight Optical Ltd. is uniquely qualified to satisfy all the requirements on lens chromatic performance and to deliver the required quality products by October 2012 to satisfy the tight delivery schedule for the instrument. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on July 23, 2012. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
