Description
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, material, parts, equipment, fuel, oil, transportation, equipment and facilities, services necessary, to remove the starboard main engine, Detroit Diesel 8V92N, along with the Twin Disc MG5091 marine gear; remove the engine for a complete in-shop overhaul, Detroit Diesel 8V92N engine for the M/V John Bopp. The M/V Bopp is a 55-foot Survey Vessel located at the USACE, Venice Sub Office, Venice, LA. Information on the existing engine follows: STARBOARD Engine Make Detroit Diesel Engine Model 8082-7000 Engine S/N 8VF-107880 Transmission Transmission MG5091 Remove all interferences and disconnect all fuel, water, exhaust, control, shafting, and electrical connections, on the starboard main engine and transmission. Remove the alternator, hydraulic steering pump and starter from the existing engine, inspect each for damage, repair or replace if defective and re-install them on the rebuilt engine after repairs. Inspect all engine foundation and transmission foundation mounting holes for engine and gear for damage. If mounting holes are damaged (oblong or elongated) advise the government inspector to make the necessary arrangement to have the mounting holes plug weld and the contractor will re-drill all mounting holes when engine and transmission are being reinstalled to achieve the proper alignments. Reinstall the engine to the proper transmission for testing of both units. After testing load unit and return to vessel. Check the alignment of the shafting and shims to achieve no more than 0.004 differences between any two opposite points on the coupling. Replace all interferences. Connect all fuel, water, exhaust, control, shafting and electrical connections.
