General Information Short Title: Leica DM 5500 B microscope with accessories Document Type: Presolicitation Notice Solicitation Number: NCI-120138-KM Posted Date: 07/27/2012 Response Date: 08/11/2012 Classification Code: 6640 - Laboratory Equipment and Supplies NAICS Code: 333314 - Optical Instrument and Lens Manufacturing Contracting Office Address Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute, Office of Acquisitions, 8490 Progress Drive, Suite 400, Frederick, MD 21701, UNITED STATES Description The National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) plans to procure on a sole source basis the following: Leica DM 5500 B TL (BF + ICT) + Fluo microscope with accessories. This acquisition will be processed in accordance with simplified acquisition procedures as stated in FAR Part 13.106-1(b)(1). The North American Industry Classification System code is 333314 and the business size standard is 500. Only one award will be made as a result of this solicitation. This will be awarded as a firm fixed price type contract. Period of Performance shall be from award through September 30, 2012. It has been determined there are no opportunities to acquire green products or services for this procurement. This equipment will be used for examining the brain tissue after it has been frozen and processed. M PL FLUOTAR objectives (5x, 10x, 20x, 40x,100x) Leica Application Suite, Basis Package Patho diffusor plate for 1.25 - 5x objectives With PL FLUOTAR objective 1,25 x Chroma Photoflour Excitation unit with light guide Leica AF6000 for DM6000 B, DM5500 B Leica DFC 450C cooled color digital camera kit Camera adapter 0.70x AF6000 Z-Control and Software Autofocus Multi Channel Acquisition Stitching With 2 monitors 22" With PC With System Integration AF6000 Keyboard US 110V Factory Installed Stand Components The equipment from Leica has several unique features which are all useful and desireable when viewing brain tissue, such as a fully automated differential interference contrast (DIC) and a fluorescence intensity management feature. The microscope also has a unique Constant Color Intensity Control (CCIC) that maintains the color temperature at a constant 3200 K when the lamp voltage is changed. In addition, the Z drive is motorized, which offers the convenience of automatic parfocality adjustment, saved focus levels, and automated positioning of various Z levels. The NCI knows of no other entity that can supply the requested equipment. This notice is not a request for competitive quotation. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirement, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The statement of capabilities and any other information furnished must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow NCI to determine if the party can perform the requirement. Capability statements must be received in the contracting office by 4:00 PM EST, on August 11, 2012. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement will be based upon responses to this notice and is solely within the discretion of the Government.
