- Concerns having the ability to furnish the supplies described herein are requested to give written notification (including the name and telephone number for a point of contact) to the contract specialist listed in the announcement within 15 calendar days from the date of this synopsis. The Denver Microbeam Laboratory of the USGS maintains a FEI Quanta 450 field emission gun scanning electron microscope (SEM) and has a requirement for a cold (peltier) stage addition for this equipment. The stage shall satisfy the following specifications: 1. Peltier Stage Temperature Range: A minimum of -20C to at least +50C 2. Peltier Stage interface: The temperature and rate of temperature change must be controlled directly through the FEI user interface of the FEI microscope PC. 3. Stage controller: The stage controller must include a mechanism to adjust flow and a device to monitor outgoing and returning water to detect leaks within the microscope chamber. 4. Peltier Stage position: The peltier stage and its feed throughs must fit on the D port of the FEI Quanta 450 FEG. Based on the information at this time, the government considers the product specified as a sole source from FEI Company and proposes to negotiate a contract with the firm on that basis. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that they can furnish the required supplies or its functional equivalent (based on the criteria specified herein) are invited to submit, in writing, an affirmative response to this announcement. An affirmative response would include literature, brochures and other such materials which correspond to the required services and supplies stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, request for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request without further consideration. Affirmative response shall be received by this office by close of business August 24, 2012 by 3:00 P.M. Mountain Standard Time. This notice may represent the Governments only official notice of this procurement.
