- Description
- THIS NOTICE IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP) contemplate award of a Firm Fixed Price Sole Source Purchase Order to CDC Foundation. The work shall be performed at the Contractor's facility. The Period of Performance shall be for 12 months. The North American Industrial Classification Standards (NAICS) Code is 541990 and Standard Business Size of $14M. The sole source award will be conducted in accordance with FAR Part 13.106-1(b) only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirement. The mission of CDC's Alcohol Program in the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion is to strengthen the scientific foundation for the prevention of excessive alcohol use, including binge and underage drinking. The Alcohol Program accomplishes this mission by improving public health surveillance on excessive alcohol use; conducting applied public health research, including reviews of policy strategies for the prevention of excessive drinking for the Guide to Community Preventive Services (Community Guide); supporting state and local public health capacity in Alcohol Epidemiology; and supporting the translation of Community Guide recommendations for the prevention of excessive drinking into public health practice. The contractor shall work with the CDC Alcohol Program to identify Distinguished Alcohol Research Fellows and serve as the fiscal agent for supporting their work. The Distinguished Alcohol Research Fellows will have the opportunity to conduct specialized studies focused on cutting-edge legal and economic issues related to excessive alcohol use, and help create connections between public health science and practice. In partnership with CDC, Distinguished Fellows will also provide customized technical assistance to states and communities working to improve their reporting and dissemination of data on the economic cost of excessive alcohol use, or both to implement Community-Guide recommended policies for preventing excessive drinking. CDC is not requesting competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide the services required are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification to the Contracting Officer no later than 2:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, by August 29, 2012. Determination not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Respondents will assume all financial costs for preparing a response to this notice. The U.S. Government assumes no financial obligation for the preparation and distribution of prepared responses. Inquiries may be sent to Monica Shaw via email at vwk1@cdc.gov.
