- The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Research Triangle Park, NC intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with PhyNexus Inc., 3670 Charter Park Drive, Suite A, San Jose, CA 95136, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This procurement is for the following: 1) #PHR 96-000-00- (1 each)-MEA Personal Purification System-US Voltage ve to include-computer, chiller system, 200+.pipette head, 1000+pipette head, associated power supplies.This robot liquid handling system is designed to work with the PhyNexus tip purification system that is already in use in the lab at the NIEHS. The system allows the user to purify proteins on the bench top at temperatures less than room temperature.Cool conditions are required during isolation of proteins to help stabilize some proteins and help decrease protease degradation during purification. The system comes preprogrammed to run protein purification trials using the PhyNexus tips.In order to maintain consistency in on-going research and to assure compatibility with the other PhyNexus equipment in the lab, this system by PhyNexus is required for this request. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability. Respond to this requirement by submitting written capabilities/specifications to the Purchasing Agent at the address stated above. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received within 8 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 8 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with PhyNexus Inc. The NAICS Code/Size is 334516/500. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures in conjunction with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and is not expected to exceed the Simplified Acquisition threshold of $150,000.
