Description
The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Research Triangle Park, NC intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Miltenyi Biotec, 2303 Lindbergh Street, Auburn, CA 95602, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This purchase is for the following items: 1)-#130-092-545, autoMACS PRO Separator-Starter Kit. This piece of equipment is required to isolate subpopulations of cells from cell lines and/or tissues. These subpopulations of cells are critical in research at the NIEHS for defining the target cell population and mechanisms of action of the inorganic carcinogens studied at the NIEHS. This equipment will separate cell volumes from 0.2 Ml per sample up to 50 Ml, while others can only separate 0.25 Ml up to 8.5Ml per sample. The Miltenyi autoMACS Pro Separator meets the specifications for lab space and allows the lab to use it inside a culture hood (biological safety cabinet) to ensure sterility during the cell separations. Many of the protocols used in the lab are already being used for the autoMACS PRO which would eliminate the need for training and would not cause a delay in ongoing research. With the "in house" computer a separate computer would not have to be purchased to run the software and operator the cell separator. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability Respond to this requirement by submitting written capabilities/specifications to the Contract Specialist at the address stated below. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received within 8 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 8 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with Applied Biosystems. The NAICS Code/Size is 334516/500 EMP. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures in conjunction with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and is not expected to exceed the Simplified Acquisition threshold of $150,000. There is no solicitation package available. For any questions regarding this announcement, please contact Valarie K. Sims via email sims3@niehs.nih.gov.*****
