Description
This is a notice of intent, not a request for a quotation. A solicitation document will not be issued and quotations will not be requested. National Institute on Drug Abuse, Office of Acquisitions- Neurosciences, Station Support/Simplified Acquisitions on behalf of the National Institute on Neurological Disorders and Stroke intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with the Leica Microsystems, Inc., 1700 Leider Lane, Buffalo Grove, IL, 60089 for a confocal microscope. The program has a requirement for an inverted research microscope fwith motorized focus and motorized objective revolver. The objective of the research is to image live cultured cells and neurons at high speed, resolution, contrast and confocality. The confocal microscope from Leica is equipped with 2 laser lines (488nm, 638 nm), BF detector, 2 PMT confocal detectors, 1 Hybrid detector, tandem scanner 8 khz with dual galvanometer mirrors that allow high speed (resonant mode) or high pixel-density (non-resonant mode) scanning, and low noise. In addition, this product will allow an upgrade to diffraction-unlimited live cell STED imaging. The acquisition is being conducted using FAR 12 procedures. FAR 6.302-1. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Comments to this announcement, referencing synopsis number NOI2638040 may be submitted to the NIDA, Station Support/Simplified Acquisition Branch, 31 Center Drive, Bldg 31, Room 1B59, Bethesda, MD 20892-2080, and Attention: Susan A. Nsangou, Contracting Officer.
