- CONTINUATION PAGE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FOR SOLICITATION VA244-12-R-1598 1A) Is there a separate RFP for providing the personal patient TVs and outlets. Yes, there is a separate RFP for the personal patient televisions. The medical center will provide the electrical outlets for the televisions. VA244-12-R-1598 general questions: 1-Can you please provide drawings (floor plans) for the buildings to be wired? Are they electronic? 2-Can you please provide drawings (as-built or line drawing of existing TV distribution)? Hard copy drawing will be provided to the successful bidder. 3-Do you know and can you provide the current signal levels of the existing distribution as it enters each building to be wired? The following signal levels were measured when the current distribution system was upgraded in 2004. It is believed that the signal strengths remain close to these values but they have not been specifically checked. These values were measured on channels 2 and 116. Building 1: 17 dB at channel 2, 27 dB at channel 116 Building 59: 18 dB at channel 2, 14 dB at channel 116. This is the input into an amplifier in Building 59. The output of this amplifier is 35 dB at channel 2 and 47 dB at channel 116. Building 138: 21 dB at channel 2, 10 dB at channel 116. This is the input into an amplifier in Building 138. The output of this amplifier is 42 dB at channel 2, 46 dB at channel 116. 4-Are the RF drop locations to be co-located at the bedside with the mounting hardware for the personal patient TV? If so please provide specifics for this location. Will the RF drop be wired directly to the PPTV as part of the mounting hardware or will each RF drop location require a box and a wall plate (as requested)? If so, this location is likely to be determined by the placement of the PPTV hardware. Drop locations will be co-located at the bedside with the televisions mounts at the head of the bed. They will be approximately 48 inches above the floor. This may vary by inches depending on the room, layout and wall construction. As noted in the statement of work, the specific location of the drops will be determined during a walk through with the successful bidder and the COR. Each location will require a box and wall plate. Attached is a cut sheet of the television mounting hardware showing its MATV connection. 5-Are the existing Dayroom/Wait room/Conference Room TVs included in the total new RF location counts provided? No, they are not. The Contractor is not required to install any outlets at these locations but it is expected that they will remain operational throughout this project and at its conclusion. 6-Will removal of unused existing wiring, hardware, TVs and mounts be required? If so, what certification of proper disposal of e-waste will be required? (existing PVC coated wiring, mount hardware and electronics should not be placed in landfill) No, removal of existing wiring, hardware, TVs and mounts is not required. 7-Will additional uninstalled parts be required to be left on site for critical spares or future expansion? (Do you want an extra amp, splitter, tap, LE, etc to be able to quickly service critical failures?) No, spare parts are not required. Specific questions: 8-VA244-12-R-1598 Pg 13 Sec R: Has the facility performed an ICRA to define the scope of activity and need for barrier measures (if any) for the patient areas involved with the scope of work for this project? Can we have a copy of the assessment and or a list of required barrier measures? What are the requirements to secure an Above Ceiling Work Permit at the facility? Will individual permits be required for each work area involved? The Above Ceiling Work Permit can be obtained at the Fire Department. Individual permits will be issued for each Building. 9-VA224-12-1598 Pg 13 Sec T: What format are as-built drawings of new distribution and RF drop locations to be submitted? What level of detail is required? Is testing and reporting of actual signal level of each as-built RF drop required? Drawings should be submitted in PDF format. The drawings shall indicate the location of outlets, amplifiers, and other equipment in sufficient detail so that medical center staff can use the drawings to make future outlet additions and to troubleshoot and repair the system after the warranty period. As each area/floor is completed, signal strength and quality shall be measured at the outlets to ensure specifications are met. It is anticipated that a random representative sample shall be taken to determine if specifications are met. 10-VA224-12-1598 Pg 13 Sec 6: Is it anticipated that any of the existing distribution closets where wiring will be run are co-located with Information Technology Communications equipment? If so are there any scheduling requirements needed to ensure Biomedical Engineering staff are available for escort into the closets? (Is this work limited to specific times or will extended wait periods be required for access?) The distribution closet in Building 59 is co-located with IT. Contractor should inform COR of need for access at least two (2) work days in advance of need for access. The work is not limited to specific times and extended wait periods for access are not anticipated. 11. Can we get a copy of all questions asked by all vendors? All questions and answers will be provided via an amendment to the solicitation.
