Description
STATEMENT OF WORK Annual Fire Alarm, and Detection (FAD) Inspections BACKGROUND: The contractor will provide labor, equipment and transportation to inspect FAD in Veterans Affairs Medical Center Manchester buildings. WORK REQUIREMENT: The contractor will inspect equipment in accordance with applicable National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) code. Tests include: 1. Test fire alarm initiating devices, fire detection and alarm equipment in accordance with (IAW) NFPA-72-1999 annually with 25 percent of devices inspected quarterly so that by contract year end all equipment has been tested. Equipment includes: a.Duct detectors, electro-mechanical release devices, heat detectors, manual fire alarm boxes and smoke detectors annual testing (TO INCLUDE SENSITIVITY TEST) 2. Test occupant alarm notification devices IAW NFPA 72-1999, including audible devices, speakers and visible devices. 3. Test automatic smoke detection air-handler shutdown devices IAW NFPA 90A-1999. CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS: The contractor shall have 5-years of experience in inspecting, testing and certifying hospital or commercial building fire alarm, detection and suppression systems. Contractor shall include pricing for (1) one base year plus (4) four additional option years. ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS: The contractor will coordinate all work with the VAMC Safety Specialist. The contractor will provide a written report, with inspection sheets, indicating pass or failure status of all equipment and devices, with any written recommendations.
