- Description
- Solicitation Number: W15P7T-08-R-P415 Topic Number: S0801 Antenna Research, Reduction, and Compatibility (ARRC) Division: Antennas and Spectrum Analysis (ASA) Technical Contact: Henry Tsai, henry.tsai.civ@mail.mil, 443-395-7449 U.S. Army CERDEC S&TCD is interested in receiving whitepapers for design, development, integration, and demonstration of an ultra-wideband antenna system installed on a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), such that it is completely indistinguishable from the rest of the vehicles on the roadway. The technology will be developed and demonstrated under the FY13 S&TCD technology based program Antenna Research, Reduction, and Compatibility (ARRC). The objective is to develop an effective antenna system, compatible with current Army radio systems, utilizing native vehicle structures and/or standard vehicle accessories for the design and mounting of radiating elements. The effort will involve the design of multiple antenna elements (or the integration of commercial off the shelf (COTS) antenna products), as well as systems engineering to maintain compatibility with the existing radio systems installed on an SUV. Objective Antenna System Attributes: - The installed antenna system must not be easily identifiable. Designs utilizing native vehicle structures and accessories are highly desirable and preferred over non-standard vehicle items. - The antenna system installation shall require minimum or no modifications to the SUV. - The antenna system shall be compatible with a fielded Army radio system, and provide performance comparable to existing fielded antennas (see proceeding section). - The antenna system must not subject vehicle occupants to dangerous levels of electromagnetic radiation, and shall comply with established Army exposure safety standards. - The antenna system shall be capable of operating under established MIL-STD-810G environmental and weather conditions, such as operational temperature, shock, vibration, and etc... Technical Specifications: The radio consists of multiple RF ports, as denoted in Table 1. It is desired that the proposed solution addresses the requirements for each port on this system. However, at a minimum the proposed solution must address ports labeled with a priority of "required," as listed in Table 1. Furthermore, objective (desired) and threshold (minimum acceptable) requirements are provided for many of antenna requirements specified at each port. If the proposed system does not meet the threshold or objective specifications, a detailed trade-off analysis should be presented along with the whitepaper. It is acceptable to propose multiple solutions, while identifying trade-offs for each possible approach. For example, one solution might utilize multiple radiators connected to a single output port through a diplexer/RF combiner. In such a case, the proposal shall address the technical feasibility and potential impact to the system utilizing such components. If vehicle functionality is impacted by the proposed solution, a risk assessment analysis shall be provided. The Offeror must prove and document their claims by the use of modeling and simulation (M&S) programs or other reliable methods.
