- Description
- This is not a request for quote and no solicitation is available. This is a notice of the government's intent to extend the period of performance of contract W9124D-08-F-0131 for the continuation of mission critical Information Technology services for the United States Army Human Resources Command. The Mission and Installation Contracting Command(MICC)- Fort Knox intends to exercise Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Clause 52-217-8, Option to Extend Services to extend the performance period of contract W9124D-08-F-0131 issued to Akamai Technologies Inc. The current period of performance with no additional services will be extended from 01 December 2012 to 31 May 2013. The contract is for the GoArmy.com program and provides a worldwide network of internet servers and data warehouses that ensure GoArmy.com will perform optimally regardless of the number of simultaneous visits to the site. The service relieves the Army of the need to purchase and maintain a network of hardware and internet server to accommodate millions of visitors. Akamai Technologies, Inc. is the only source that can provide uninterrupted service with no degradation in support within the timeframe discussed above. This service is vital to the continued operations of the IT infrastructure, business applications, and processes. If this extension is awarded to a new contractor, major disruptions will occur as the new contractor must provide these services within a very short period of time (beginning 01 December 2012). This extension is necessary in order to maintain continuity of vital mission essential recurring services for information technology systems and business applications. Any vendor who believes it is capable of meeting the MICC's requirement as stated herein may submit a response, which will be considered only if received by 29 November 2012 by 1pm (EST). Responses to this posting must be in writing and submitted to catherine.l.padgett.civ@mail.mil by 1pm (EST) on 29 November 2012. A determination not to compete the proposed modification based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Please note that any prospective offeror must be registered in the System for Award Mangement (SAM) system at www.sam.gov prior to award. Upon completion of the period of performance, it is the government's intent to compete the new requirement.
