- The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD) intends to award a firm-fixed price contract to work with industry to design, qualify and ultimately install and transition a stern tube seal onto the LCS-1 Class with Mide Technology Corporation. The scope of work under this contract will be to design a stern tube seal assembly using technology developed under the Phase II SBIR, build and test a scaled prototype, qualify full scale unit through shock, operational, and vibration testing, fabricate two qualified units, install two qualified units, and provide technical documentation of finalized product. The proposed contract action is for supplies and services which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received prior to December 28, 2013 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed purchase order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
