Sources Sought The Department of Defense Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) has a continuing need for a contract for Occupational Therapies (OT) services in support of the Special Education Program located at Fort Jackson, SC 29207. The period of performance is to start as soon as possible and work through the school year with options to extend future school years. Services are generally performed between the hours of 0830-1130, 1 day a week. The Department of Defense Domestic Elementary and Secondary Schools is a federal government agency, an education activity, tax exempt, and qualified for academic/educational pricing. All inquiries must be submitted in writing via email to melinda.davis@am.dodea.edu No inquiries will be answered by telephone. ************************************************************************ Performance Work Statement Occupational Therapist- Fort Jackson School 1. PURPOSE: The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) requires an Occupational Therapist to provide services for the School Year (SY) 2012-2013 with option years in support of the Special Education Program for the DoD Domestic Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) located at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. 2. BACKGROUND: Occupational Therapy services are one of the related services mandated for provision of special education services to DoDEA students with disabilities under the DoD Instruction 1342.12 entitled "Provision of Early Intervention and Special Education Services to Eligible DoD Dependents". The Case Study Committee (CSC) is responsible for determining if a student requires Occupational Therapy services in accordance with the Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. An IEP is the document written by the CSC that establishes the goals and services that must be provided to a student with a disability in order to provide a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). The required Occupational Therapy services shall be provided with linkage to the educational needs of the student rather than to the medical needs of the student. 3. TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS: The Contractor shall: a. Be a Certified/Credentialed Occupational Therapist b. Have pediatric experience. c. Be able to work a flexible work schedule of varying days per week and hours per day. 4. REQUIREMENT: The Contractor shall: a. Provide Occupational Therapy (OT) services in accordance with IEP goals. b. Provide consultative OT services to staff, parents, and students in accordance with IEP goals. c. Attend meetings and assist in the development of IEPs for students found eligible for OT services d. Perform observations and evaluations at school. e. Write evaluation reports to include diagnostic findings and educational implications. f. Provide parent training, as appropriate. g. Plan and assemble appropriate specialized equipment and accommodations. h. The hours under this requirement are estimated only. Actual hours and days shall be based upon the number of students requiring services. Student enrollment for these services fluctuates and there may be periods during which no services shall be performed because there are no students requiring these services in the current enrollment. i. Approximate number of hours needed are 8 hours delivered over 4 weeks. Services are generally performed between the hours of 0830-1130, 1 day a week. The hours under this requirement are estimated only. Actual hours and days shall be based upon the number of students requiring services. 5. SCHOOL YEAR (SY) CALENDAR: The actual school calendar (with holidays, in service days, etc.) can be located at http://www.dodea.edu/schoolCalendars.cfm?customel_datapageid_172689=172871 The ESY calendar shall be provided to the contractor by the Special Education Director when published. 6.
