- Description
- The United States Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) has a requirement for The Joint Program Committee 1 (JPC-1), Medical Training and Health Information Systems (MTHIS) Research Program, in coordination with the US Army Medical Research & Materiel Command's (USAMRMC) Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC) for research and development (R&D) of an Advanced Modular Manikin (AMM). This anticipated solicitation seeks to advance the state of the art in medical simulation based training. It is anticipated that the core AMM system will be state of the art, modular, and relatively autonomous. It will serve as a core platform that allows scaling from a simple, to a vastly more capable, unit using future commercial upgrades ( quote mark peripherals quote mark ) that can be obtained from a variety of potential sources. The intent is that the AMM be a platform upon which future technologies can reside through development of advanced peripherals through other efforts. It is envisioned that the advanced modular manikin be compatible with a wide array of peripherals and/or extensions leveraged with open-source / open-standard physical attachments, supply (electrical/fluid) connections and communications links. This broad AMM platform to be developed should have the ability to host capabilities that do not yet exist but that are anticipated to be developed within the next five to ten years. Creation of the AMM platform will allow for a usable manikin system that can incorporate future advances, from a variety of sources, easily into military medical training. This requirement will include Phase 1 for development of initial capabilities and prototypes with an option for Phase 2 for the delivery of an advanced working prototype. The initial period of performance is expected to be one year to eighteen months. It is anticipated that the solicitation will be issued in March 2013. This is a pre-solicitation notice only. Any questions concerning this notice shall be submitted in writing to the Contract Specialist, Mr. Robert Doan at robert.doan@us.army.mil or the Contracting Officer, Ms. Pamela Nevels at pamela.nevels@us.army.mil.
