- Description
- Supply List_55134 This is a sources sought announcement to determine the availability of potential vendors (including, but not limited to, small business (e.g. 8 (a), veteran-owned small business, service-disabled veteran owned small business, HUBZone small business, small disadvantage business, and women-owned small business) that can provide reagents and consumables to support research and the reference laboratory work done across the laboratory branches of provide support to the Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention based on the supply list in this Sources Sought Announcement. Background: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP) has an ongoing need for molecular biological reagents and consumables to support research and the reference laboratory work done at various laboratory branches. The reagents and consumables are biochemical components for polymerase chain reaction (pcr) amplification, cloning and sequencing bacterial and viral RNA and DNA. The various polymerases and transcriptase, dNTPs, PCR kits and gels are reagents and consumables that are involved in the amplification and QC of nucleic acids and are optimized to amplify a wide range of targets reliably and provide superior results for routine PCR amplification. The expression and cloning kits contain the biochemical reagents necessary for further nucleic acid manipulation. The amplified PCR product of interest is inserted into a various vectors with convenient restriction sites allowing for additional study. Other supplies include different cycle sequencing kits formulated for different applications and templates. Cycle sequencing is a method in which successive rounds of denaturation, annealing, and extension in a thermal cycler result in linear amplification of extension products. NCHHSTP research utilizes Dye Terminator sequencing chemistry which color codes the DNA with fluorescent dyes. The sequencing reactions are then purified up with BigDye Xterminator which scavenges all unincorporated BigDye® terminators. These products are then injected into a capillary for electrophoresis on one of the sequencing platforms. Sequencing reagents and consumables arrays, polymers, and buffers that are specific for the different sequencing platforms are also currently in used at the NCHHSTP lab branches. CDC/NCHHSTP requires support of a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) to fulfill an ongoing need for molecular biological reagents and consumables to support ongoing research. Many of these reagents and supplies are to be used with the existing sequencing platforms installed at CDC. Other reagents are to be used to study gene expression in pathogens. Use of these reagents is required to assure continuity of research within the laboratories. Purpose and Objectives: The purpose of this acquisition is to provide CDC with rapid turnaround for an ongoing need of reagents and consumables in support of the NCHHSTP laboratory branches based on the attached supply list. Capability Statement: Vendors who believe they have the ability to provide all the supplies listed are encouraged to submit a capability statement. The pre-configured reagents and supplies shall fit directly into 3130, 3130xl and 3500 Genetic Analyzer platforms and the manufacture, development and distribution of consumable of pcr, cloning and DNA sequencing reagents must comply with the requirements of ISO 9000. The vendor shall be able to provide all supplies at a rapid turnaround through the year at any given time. Capability statements shall include the following information: company name, address, point of contact, phone/fax/email, and business size and status (e.g. small business, 8(a), veteran-owned small business, service-disabled veteran owned small business, HUBZone small business, small disadvantage business, and women owned small business). Submission Instructions: Interested parties having the capabilities necessary to perform the stated requirements may submit a capability statement (maximum 5 pages) via email to Sherrie Randall (srandall@cdc.gov). The subject line of the email shall be "Reagents and Consumables". Responses are due no later than January 30, 2013 by 8:00AM EST. Capability statements will not be accepted after the due date.
