Description
This is a Sources Sought Notice only. This is NOT a Request for Proposal, Request for Quote or Invitation for Bid. DLA Troop Support is conducting market research seeking to identify possible sources that can supply NSN 9390-01-382-8344, Tape, Protective Plastic. Interested contractors are requested to carefully review the required features listed below to identify any potential manufacturing challenges and formulate any questions. The intent of this sources sought notice is to gather information that will identify sources for the possibility of a solicitation for the referenced item under a long-term, indefinite quantity type contract. The specifications for this Tape, Protective Plastic is that it is used on a C-17 aircraft for the purpose of protection from normal erosion and possible underlying surface damage caused by landing on semi-prepared and unprepared runways. The item is currently manufactured by 3M Company (Division of Industrial Tapes and Adhesives) (Cage 52152), Part Number 70-0062-1041-6 also known as 3M Aircraft Belly Protective Tape 8641. This protective tape must be able to absorb energy which will help protect the underlying surface from damage when impacted by rocks, debris, and other foreign objects. The product must also allow air to escape when applied to the pressurized fuselage of an aircraft. This Sources Sought Notice is issued for the purpose of market research only and the Government is in no way obligated to purchase any material as a result of this inquiry. The Government will NOT pay for any information submitted by respondents in response to this Sources Sought Notice. If a solicitation or solicitations would result, it/they would be synopsized on the FedBizOpps website and it would be the offeror's responsibility to monitor the FedBizOpps website for any such notices.
