Description
Description Generator: Pulse Width = 23 ns +/- 5ns (FWHM), Rise time = 1.8 to 2.8 ns (10% and 90%), measured per Mil-Std-461F, RS105. Wave shape must be provided prior to award of contact. The output waveform shall be tunable by adjusting the main spark gaps gas pressure, the peaking circuit spark gap gas pressure, and electrode distance. The EMP generator shall be rated to produce needed voltage to obtain the required E-field peak pulse intensity of 50kV/m (-0dB / +6dB) in the desired test volume. Operating range should be infinitely adjustable from 35% to 100% of the maximal erected voltage. The EMP generator shall have a single standalone controller with ability to control all pulse parameters (which enables to modify the charging voltage settings, the gas pressure settings, the "high voltage on" selection, and the pulse triggering). Radiation line: 50kV/m, Mast height estimated to be around 5 meters, outdoor system. Test article minimum volume: 54 inches high, 84 inches long, and 84 inches wide. This volume does not need to meet the Mil-Std-461F requirement explicitly (i.e. h/3, B/2, A/2), but must be within the 0dB to 6dB area of the radiation field. Tapered antenna to eliminate reflections and pulse distortion caused by reflections inherent in parallel plate design antennas. The transmission line does not have a diffraction angle prior to the EUT zone (triangular shaped transmission line). Line conductors shall be made of galvanized steel and supported non-metallic cross beams and posts. Load resistors shall consist of chains of distributed resistors installed in UV proof plastic tubes on each line. Each tube shall be sealed and fitted with a valve at the bottom to enable filling the tubes with nitrogen to prevent corrosion of the precision resistors. Weather proof antenna design for permanent outdoor installation at the LMTF site. All parts built with UV resistant materials. Antenna designed to take into account the supplementary weight of snow and ice. Antenna designed to withstand wind speeds on site. Antenna constructed of materials which are protected from, or naturally resistant to, rain and moisture. Ground plane: The ground plane shall be included and be made of galvanized wire mesh with 2 to 5 cm mesh size and a solid weld at every intersection of the mesh. Ground plane should be designed to be installed under the soil surface, made of reinforced concrete at the EUT zone and 4 inches of compacted gravel/roadbase elsewhere. Accessories: Complete set of accessories including 50m of pneumatic tubing, control cables, feed through connectors, power cables, interlock connectors, 2 ground rods, and ground cables shall be included Operator's Manual: Operator's and maintenance manual including pulser data plots and pressure curve. Proof of Capability: Vendor shall provide two written references stating capability of work requested. In addition, the vendor shall provide evidence of previously installed permanent outdoor system in harsh environment with minimum of 3 years. Selected vendor shall have the ability to perform electromagnetic field simulations of the RS105 installation in its environment. The potential effect of surrounding buildings and structures on the pulse shape in the EUT zone shall be thoroughly studied and analyzed in order to determine the impact of different installation options. Measurements or simulations of the E-field pulse shape shall be provided at multiple locations within the entire EUT volume prior to initiating project. Simulator installation: Pulse generator, controls, and termination, radiation line, ground plane with concrete and roadbase Simulator Tuning / Adjustments: After installation, tune the simulator to ensure achieving Mil-Std-461F, RS105 requirements. Simulator Checkout / Training: Onsite training of RS105 Simulator and checkout of system.
