The upcoming Paint Branch Stream Restoration and Fish Passage Phase II Construction Contract is for stream restoration and fish passage. More specifically the scope of services will include the correction of an anadromous fish blockage by raising the stream grade; geomorphic restoration of the stream channel through channel realignment and placement of in-stream stabilization structures (such as J-hooks, cross vanes, and step pools); and restoration of floodplain wetlands along the channel. Stream restoration and fish passage improvements are planned along approximately 5,000 feet of Paint Branch which drains into the Anacostia River located in College Park, Prince George's County, MD from Route 193 bridge downstream to Route 1 bridge. Effort will focus on minimizing stream bed and bank erosion using a natural channel design philosophy and constructing a fish passage over sewer line crossing stream. This upcoming project is essentially the same as the Northwest Branch Anacostia Package II project. Prince George's County, MD, are located in the Anacostia watershed, involve the same stream restoration practices and Contractors will need access to the same equipment, similar experience, and similar bonding and insurance to ensure that the job can be performed at an acceptable level. Narratives shall be no longer than ten pages. Email responses are preferred. Comments will be shared with the Government and the project design team, but otherwise will be held in strict confidence.
