- DESCRIPTION: The U.S. Army Contracting Command, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ, on behalf of the Project Manager for Maneuver Ammunition Systems, located at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ, is seeking information relating to possible sources for 40mm High Velocity and Low Velocity air-burst ammunition. The ammunition would be able to perform detonation of the warhead without impacting a target, but rather be detonated while in flight over various targets. All types of range determination, fire control and ammunition programming are of interest. PLANNED ACQUISITION: At this time the Government is looking to understand the capabilities of industry and does not presently intend to award a contract. SUBMISSION INFORMATION: Interested companies should respond by providing the Government the following information: (1) A description of the ammunition design, Performance/lethality characteristics, weapon compatibility and fire control design/ ammunition programming technology. (2) Name of company (3) Company size. (4) Point of Contact's name, telephone number and E-mail address; (5) Company address; (6) Business size information; (7) Summary of technology readiness; (8) Other areas where ammunition is used i.e. other governments, teaming agreements etc. Interested companies should submit their qualification and capability information within 30 days of this notice via electronic mail only to the Contract Specialist, Lyndsey Phillips, lyndsey.phillips1@us.army.mil. Please identify 40mm Ammunition Air-Burst Request for Information (RFI) in the subject of the Email transmission. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION AND DOES NOT OBLIGATE THE GOVERNMENT TO ISSUE A SOLICITATION. This is a RFI for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal, nor as an obligation on the part of the Government. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or otherwise pay for information solicited. Participation in this effort is strictly voluntary. Please identify any proprietary information submitted. The Government intends to utilize the information received only to develop the acquisition strategy for future requirements. Any of the information stated above is subject to change. FURTHER INFORMATION REQUESTED: 1. How much does it cost per round based on the following quantities: 175 rounds and 4000 rounds? 2. How long will it take to manufacture 175 rounds and 4000 rounds? 3. How long would it take to deliver 175 rounds and 4000 rounds? 4. How much does it cost per weapon sight / munition programmer? 5. The ability to get top level cartridge drawing with net explosive weights and descriptions. 6. Is there a nomenclature for the weapon sight / munition programmer? 7. What type of Hazard Classification and shipping / transportation exists for the designs (i.e does a DOT number or Interim Hazard Class exist)?
