- Description
- This is a SOURCES SOUGHT notice to identify potential vendors capable of providing both design and installation of fire alarm and wet pipe sprinkler systems. Currently the NPS, San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park is in the planning stage for this project. Prospective vendors are asked to attend a site visit on February 6 at 11:00am. SITE VISIT: Wednesday, February 6, 11:00 @ 2905 Hyde Street, San Francisco, CA 94109. LOCATION: Tall Ship Balclutha; Hyde Street Pier; San Francisco Maritime National Historic Site. ASSET DESCRIPTION: The Balclutha is a steel-hulled full rigged ship that was built in 1886. She is a U.S. National Historic Landmark and is currently preserved and permanently moored at the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park in San Francisco, California. Statistics: Overall length 301 feet; Deck length 256.5 feet, Depth 22.7 feet (three decks); Beam 38.6 feet, She is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The vessel decks remain in their historic configuration, and visitors are allowed throughout the ship. School age students, and their teachers, participate in the Age of Sail overnight living history program, birthing in various areas of the vessel. There is a working galley onboard, with a propane fueled stove used to provide meals to the overnighting participants. The ship is protected by a wet pipe sprinkler system and a radio frequency fire detection and notification system. Both systems have been adversely impacted by the atmospheric conditions. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The National Park Service is seeking to replace the existing fire alarm and notification system and the wet pipe sprinkler system. Potential vendors will consider atmospheric conditions, living history use, existing and anomalous construction features, historic fabric preservation, and impact to visitor experience in the design and installation. This is not a replace in kind project. The intent of the project is to provide fire detection and notification and fire suppression/extinguishment throughout the entire vessel. Proposed controls, devices and components must be listed for marine environments. Vendors shall consider traditional and emerging fire detection and suppression/extinguisher technology. This Sources Sought notice is issued for informational and planning purposes only. It is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract. Any responses received via email will not be considered quotes/proposals or bids, nor will there be any award created as a result of this notice.
