Description
2013 AF/Industry Space Technology Interchange Events for IR&D During the course of 2013, and in concert with the Deputy Secretary of Defense's Better Buying Power 2.0 initiatives, the integrated team, consisting of the Air Force Space Command (AFSPC, the warfighter), the Space & Missile Systems Center (SMC, the acquirer), and the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL, the developer), plans to conduct space technology interchange events. This integrated team will use a hybrid model in planning and executing these AF/Industry interchanges, focused on the AF's space capability gaps, space technology acquisition needs, and science and technology (S&T) solutions emphasizing potential use and influence of Industry IR&D to address critical gaps and needs. For this AF/Industry space technology dialogue, the AF intends to use secure, online resources to convey its space technology gaps/needs/solution message, followed by face-to-face (F2F) discussions to specifically address how AF and Industry can find the means to partner, leverage, apply and integrate IR&D to near- and mid-term S&T and acquisition efforts to improve our warfighters' technology edge. In concert with this announcement, the online segment begins in January 2013, followed by the F2F event, currently planned for the week of 3-7 June 2013 at Kirtland Air Force Base (AFB), New Mexico. An explanation of this hybrid approach follows, with opportunities to obtain clarification extended throughout these exchanges.
