- The National Forests in Mississippi is soliciting for the purchase of Plastic Sphere Dispenser (PSD) Aerial Ignition Spheres. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12 in conjunction with FAR 13, as applicable and as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; offers are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number is AG-447U-S-13-0013 and is issued as a request for quotes. The solicitation document incorporates provisions and clauses that in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular FAC 2005-65. The associated North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 115310. This requirement is a Total Small Business set-aside. The Aerial Ignition Sphere shall be made of high impact polystyrene, 32-mm (1.25 inches) in diameter and contains approximately 3.0 grams of potassium permanganate. Undiluted, ethylene glycol-based antifreeze is required. Must provide a reliable ignition and a time delay of at least 20 seconds. The Aerial Ignition Spheres are commonly dispensed from aircraft by the Plastic Sphere Dispenser (PSD) machine that is developed to provide a method of igniting ground fuels, in a short time, on large acreage without causing undue damage. In preparing quotes the following factors must be considered: shipping charges - to 368 Ashe Nursery Road, Brooklyn, Mississippi 39425-9704 A total of 450 boxes of Aerial Ignition Devices (AID) are required. Devices shall be packaged at 1000 balls per box. Offerors having questions or needing clarifications can notify Elijah Gray at (601)965-1619 or Brad Bernardy at (601) 965-1628. Interested offerors can submit quotes by fax to : (601) 965-1788, Attn: Elijah Gray, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service, R8Acquisition Zone West, National Forests in Mississippi not later than 4:00 PM local time on February 25, 2013. Offeror must be registered in the Systems for Awards Management (SAM) database before an award can be made to them. Offerors not registered in the SAM, can do so through the SAM website at http://www.sam.gov.
