- Description
- RFI The Social Security Administration (SSA), Office of Acquisition and Grants (OAG), in conjunction with its customer, the Division of Online Systems and Database Operations (DOSDO), is currently performing market research to determine the availability of sources to provide products compatible with the Hewlett Packard (HP) BladeSystem c7000 Enclosure. SSA is seeking sources that can provide delivery, installation, and support of compatible blade hardware. This includes compatible storage, server, and switch blades that work with the existing enclosures. For several years, the SSA used a proprietary line of HP blade hardware for the agency's Oracle Database Infrastructure. SSA's current infrastructure consists of 8 HP BladeSystem c7000 Enclosures (containing 128 server bays), 21 Itanium HP-UX Blade Servers, 26 HP BL460c x86 Linux Blade Servers and 25 Rackmount Itanium HP-UX Servers. Principle areas of performance are Baltimore, MD and Durham, NC. Secondary sites include Philadelphia, PA; Jamaica, NY; Chicago, IL; Birmingham, AL; Kansas City, MO; Richmond, CA. SSA intends to reduce floor space and cabling and to replace our existing Itanium HP-UX infrastructure with Linux x86 blade servers. Interested parties should have the capability to provide technical consultation to SSA relevant to technology upgrades and hardware replacements. Interested Parties should have the ability to provide the following: •1) Server hardware installable within SSA's existing HP BladeSystem c7000 infrastructure. •2) Storage blade hardware compatible with existing HP BL460c blade servers, as well as installable in the HP BladeSystem c7000 Enclosure. •3) Switches that installable within the HP BladeSystem c7000 Enclosure. •4) Delivery, configuration, and installation planning for all purchased hardware. •5) Warranty and maintenance for all newly purchased hardware. Interested parties shall provide: •1) Company profile, including the name of the business, complete contact information, business size and socioeconomic category, such as: Service Disable Veteran Owned Small Business, Veteran Owned Small Business, Women-Owned Small Business, HUBZone Small Business, 8(a) Small Business, etc. For determining business size, see the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code referenced in this notice. •2) Corporate experience, including: •· Experiencing managing storage hardware delivery, installation, and service for large scale mainframe and open systems environments. •· Experience coordinating large scale hardware deliveries to geographically dispersed locations. •· Experience coordinating, tracking, and reporting on hardware service incidents. •· Experience providing technical consultation on the topics of: •· Datacenter relocation and hardware moves. •· Technology upgrades to improve system backup times. •· Process improvements through the more efficient use of existing hardware. •3) A maximum, two page strategy describing your ability to provide x86 hardware and 24/7 support including industry established levels of service response and return service windows. •4) Technical details of device(s) recommended that meet SSA's five requirements above. Interested parties that believe they have the bona fide capability to perform these services should submit a detailed statement of their solution, in writing, to Katie Cooney, Contracting Officer, Division of Information Technology Equipment and Maintenance, 7111 Security Boulevard, First Floor Rear Entrance, Baltimore, MD 21244. In addition, SSA will accept responses submitted electronically via email at Katie.Cooney@ssa.gov. Facsimile responses are not acceptable. Please reference SSA-RFI-13-0019 in the email subject line.
