- THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. (2) TO THECOMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR FABRICATION AND ASSEMBLY OF HORIZONTAL DEPOSITION CHAMBER. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to answer questions generated by vendors in response to this RFQ. QUESTION 1. How do you intend to connect the Chamber End Weldments to the Chamber Center Weldment and the End Plates to the Chamber End Weldments? ANSWER The end plates will be secured with clamps. For the end chambers to center chamber we can either use clamps or rely on vacuum to hold them together. In any case the clamps are standard parts that will be purchased separately and there are no drawings for them. QUESTION 2. Will NASA be providing a released (signed-off)set of prints at time of order? ANSWER Yes, we can arrange a set of signed off drawings. QUESTION 3. The center section and outer sections are of a different wall thickness. Please confirm. ANSWER We acknowledge the different wall thicknesses between the center and outer chambers. This was intentional. QUESTION 4. The small transfer tubes connecting the flange to the chamber are of a much thinner material. Please confirm. a. There is not a post weld flatness spec for the mating surface of the port flange. ANSWER We also confirm the tube thickness for the flange attachments are as intended. The flatness should be within 15 thousandths. QUESTION 5. Do you have a list of the Q/A submitted by other vendors. ANSWER All questions have been answered. 6. Are the seals/o-rings which will fit into End plate, detail B (drawing 120801402) and Center Chamber Flange, detail B (drawing 120801513) to be provided by the contractor? ANSWER The contractor shall provide the O-rings as long as there is no mark up in cost (less shipping expense) compared to price which could otherwise have been obtained had we purchased the parts ourselves. 7. Drawing 120801301, Sheet 2, Detail B has '?' just above the chamber end tube. I just want to confirm this specification should be.188 thick in accordance with referencing drawing 120801303, detail C. ANSWER Yes.188 8. Are glass view ports to be provided by the contractor for each Kurt Lesker CF Flange? ANSWER Yes. 9. The chamber end tube, drawing 120801303 and center chamber tube, drawing 120801512 notes #4 specifies 'roll from sheet and weld joints vacuum tight'. Since the drawings do not indicate specifications for location of the seam or weld, is this at the discretion of the contractor? ANSWER At contractor's discretion. 10. The end plate handles, drawing 120801404 specifies the end plate handles will have two holes drilled.313 diameter, 1.100 depth, but no threads are specified. Is this correct? ANSWER These holes do not have to be tapped. The holes are optional, and tubing is acceptable for the material also. 11. Drawing 120801401, end plate weldment, does not specify how the end plate handles are to be attached. ANSWER They are welded in place. 12. Drawing 120801305, chamber end roller bracket does not specify the radius of the corners at each lower corner. ANSWER This is not critical, but is should be 1.00 inch radius. 13. Drawing 120801301, chamber end weldment, detail E depicts 8 holes drilled.159 diameter with a.474 depth, threaded 10-32 UNF-3B with a.380 depth. Countersink diameter.240 x 90 degrees, N.S. and F.S. The material of the bracket is depicted as.250 thick. Could you clarify? ANSWER Remove the C'Sink from this note, just tap thru #10-32 14. Drawing 120801301, chamber end weldment, detail E depicts 4 holes drilled.313 with a.900 depth. N.S and F.S. Was this meant to read 'THRU ALL'? ANSWER Yes, THRU ALL is correct. The due date for receipt of offers is extended through February 27, 2013. ***NO MORE QUESTIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED*** Documents related to this procurement are available over the Internet. These documents reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
