- Description
- Naval Air Systems Command (AIR-2.5.1.13) Patuxent River, MD 20670 announces its intention to procure FY14-18 quantities of AN/SSQ Sonobuoys in support of the Program Executive Office for Air, ASW Assault and Special Mission Program (PMA-264) on a competitive basis. Sonobuoys include the AN/SSQ-36, AN/SSQ-53, AN/SSQ-62, AN/SSQ-101, AN/SSQ-125 and MK-84 SUS devices. These sonobuoys and SUS devices are being procured to replenish sonobuoys and SUS devices expended in daily Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) operations, and to maintain inventory levels as required by Non-Nuclear Ordnance Requirements (NNOR). A sonobuoy is an expendable electromechanical device used in the detection, classification and localization of underwater objects. The Government anticipates issuing a 5-year competitive, Firm Fixed Price (FFP) solicitation in early March 2013 and award is estimated to occur by January 2014. Award may result in multiple Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) awards or a single IDIQ contract award. A Best Value, Full Trade Off source selection is anticipated. As part of the source selection, the successful offeror(s) shall be required to possess or acquire fully qualified production-ready design(s) or present a plan to achieve qualified production-ready design(s) for any or all of the products listed above within six (6) months after date of contract award. A qualified design is defined as a design that has passed Government or similar design qualification tests. This is a Non-Developmental Full Rate Production program. The incumbent contractor is ERAPSCO, Inc. This Pre-Solicitation Synopsis is not a Request for Proposal (RFP) nor an obligation of the Government to issue an RFP. It is a synopsized notification to industry of the intent of the Government for informational purposes only.
