Description
The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Rigaku Americas Corporation, 9009 New Trails Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77381, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--0nly one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This purchase is for the renewal of a (1) year service agreement on existing Rigaku AmericasCorporation X-ray detector/generator system and the Minstrel-DT-UV/Gallery 160 crystal imaging system. The contract covers the MicroMax 007HF generator (including the Haskris water to water chiller and Cobra), the AFC11 goniometer, the Saturn92 CCD detector, the Cobra cryo-chiller, and the VariMax confocal mirror system as well as a service contract on the software that control this device. This service contract also includes coverage for our Minstrel-DT UV Gallery 160 hotel which are used to image crystallization trays. All components listed except the water to water chiller) were designed and build by Rigaku MSC, (USA), the only known source that can provide these services. The period of service is March 1, 2013-February 28, 2014. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability. Respond to this requirement by submitting written capabilities /specifications to the Purchasing Agent at the address stated below. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received within 8 days the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 8 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with Rigaku Americas Corporation. The NAICS Code/Size is 811219/19.0M. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures in conjunction with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and is not expected to exceed the Simplified Acquisition threshold of $150,000.
